TulipLock

Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 2026

TulipLock is designed to protect your files by performing all encryption and decryption directly on your device. Your files and passwords are not uploaded to any server.

Information Collection

Permissions

Storage Access (Storage Access Framework)

Used only when you choose files or folders through Android's standard file picker. This allows TulipLock to read selected files and save encrypted or decrypted files where you choose.

For Live View, folder access is used to inspect and display files contained in the folder you explicitly select.

Foreground Service

Used to keep encryption or decryption running safely while displaying progress.

Notifications (Android 13+)

Required only for foreground service notifications while processing files.

File Sharing

TulipLock can receive files directly from other applications through Android's standard sharing and sending mechanisms.

When you choose TulipLock from another application's Share or Send option, the selected file is passed to TulipLock for local encryption or decryption.

Shared files are processed locally on your device. TulipLock does not upload, transmit, or send these files to any server.

Access to a shared file is provided by Android and/or the application that sends the file. TulipLock uses that access only to process the file selected by the user.

Live View

Live View is a local file-browsing feature that allows you to view files directly from a folder that you explicitly select using Android's standard Storage Access Framework.

When you select a folder, TulipLock scans the files available in that folder and identifies TulipLock encrypted files and normal files. This operation is performed locally on your device.

Live View does not upload, transmit, or synchronize the selected folder or its contents with any server or cloud service.

Encrypted Files

When you select an encrypted TulipLock file in Live View, TulipLock verifies the password locally before decrypting the file.

If the password is correct, the encrypted file is decrypted into a temporary file inside TulipLock's private application cache storage. This temporary file is created only to allow the decrypted content to be opened by an appropriate application on your device.

The original encrypted file is never replaced, modified, or deleted by Live View.

Temporary decrypted files are not saved as permanent user files. They remain available only for the current Live View session and are automatically deleted when that session ends.

TulipLock also maintains a temporary in-memory session cache so that an encrypted file that has already been successfully decrypted during the same Live View session can be reopened without repeating the complete decryption process.

Passwords used during Live View are kept only temporarily in memory for the current session. They are not written to SharedPreferences, the database, or any permanent storage.

Normal Files

When you select a normal file in Live View, TulipLock does not create a decrypted copy. The file is opened using Android's standard "Open with" mechanism and the application you choose.

Any handling of a file after you choose another application to open it is controlled by Android and that application, not by TulipLock.

Temporary Data and Cleanup

Temporary decrypted files created by Live View are stored only in TulipLock's private cache directory. TulipLock deletes these temporary files when the Live View Activity is destroyed and the Live View session ends.

Live View does not permanently store decrypted copies of encrypted files.

Live View is designed for temporary access and does not change the contents of the original files in the selected folder.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date above.

Important

Passwords are never stored and cannot be recovered. Please keep your password in a safe place.

Live View provides temporary access to encrypted files. Temporary decrypted copies are automatically removed when the Live View session ends.
